PRINCIPAL INSTRUMENTATION DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER/PHYSICIST

Proxisense develop sensors for detecting changes of physical properties and for measuring high speed motion in extreme environments, along with expertise to convert this data in to useful customer knowledge.  Our sensors aim to improve the efficiency, lifetime and accuracy of systems across a wide range of sectors.

 

You are an expert in the development of sensors and their associated instrumentation and software.  You have lead sensor / instrumentation technical development from concept to production and you are multidisciplinary, able to seamlessly work across sensor physics, mechanics, electronics, algorithms, test and design for manufacture. You are an excellent problem solver, able to balance pragmatism and detail, to achieve results at pace – we are a startup and we move quickly.

 

You have a thorough understanding of the physics behind how sensor technologies work and are able to rapidly understand the subtle detail. You are familiar with a wide array of techniques for fabrication of robust devices such as deposition and patterning of conductors and insulators, printed electronics, micromachining and fabrication methods.  You have worked on the development of signal processing, both analog and digital and are able to engage in depth with electronics and software specialists. You have a head for theory and at the same time, are thoroughly grounded in real world practicalities. You are a thought leader and an innovator.

 

You are likely to come from a physics background, possibly an electronics background with solid experience of low noise analog sensor / instrumentation development.  You are at minimum degree qualified and have at least 7 years of relevant industrial experience.

 

This is a wide, critical, exciting and fast paced role, where you are expected to fully own one or more new sensor technologies, taking them from early stage or ideation, right through development, to customer site testing and full production, including applications development.

SENIOR INSTRUMENTATION DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER/PHYSICIST

You are highly experienced in the development of sensors and their associated instrumentation and software.  You have played a significant role on sensor / instrumentation technical development and you are multidisciplinary, able to seamlessly work across sensor physics, mechanics, electronics, algorithms, test and design for manufacture. You are an excellent problem solver, able to balance pragmatism and detail, to achieve results at pace – we are a startup and we move quickly.

 

You have a good understanding of the physics behind how sensor technologies work and are able to rapidly understand the subtle detail. You are familiar with a wide array of techniques for fabrication of robust devices.  You have good familiarity with signal processing, both analog and digital and are able to either directly apply that knowledge or to engage with electronics and software specialists. You have a head for theory and at the same time, are thoroughly grounded in real world practicalities. You are emerging as a thought leader and an innovator.

 

You are likely to come from a physics background, possibly an electronics or other engineering background with solid experience of low noise analog sensor / instrumentation development.  You are at minimum degree or HNC qualified and have at least 5 years of relevant experience.

 

This is a critical, exciting and fast paced role, where you are expected to make significant contributions to one or more new sensor technologies, from early stage or ideation, right through development, to customer site testing and production, including applications development.

TEST ENGINEER

This is a key role that is central to our R&D team, developing high technology sensors for use in multiple sectors. You will be responsible for defining and delivering R&D test programmes, analysing output data to optimising performance.  Experience of operating Mechanical and Electronic test/data acquisition equipment, typical to thermodynamics and fluid dynamics testing in laboratory and preproduction environments is required.

Experience in small scale prototype component design, manufacture and assembly is desirable, while a demonstrated ability to operate in accordance with Safe Systems of Work is a prerequisite.

The successful candidate will be qualified to minimum HNC/HND, be an innovative thinker and creative engineer with 5 to 10 years’ experience.
