Board Member and Chief Scientific Officer

Professor Kam Chana is Associate Professor of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford and Commercial and Technical Director of the Oxford Turbine Research Facility. He also holds appointments as a Consultant with QinetiQ, Expert Reviewer for EU Framework and CleanSkys Programmes. He is a Fellow at St Anne’s College, University of Oxford.

Prior to Kam’s arrival in Oxford in 2010, his roles included Head of Instrumentation & Experimental Programmes with QinetiQ and Scientific Director of European Virtual Institute for Gas Turbine Instrumentation. He was Visiting Fellow at both Surrey and Warwick Universities.

Kam’s qualifications include BSc (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering at Aston University, MSc Gas Turbine Technology-Thermal Power at Cranfield Institute of Technology and MDA Masters of Defence Administration at Royal Military College of Science, Cranfield University.

Kam is a Chartered Engineer and is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society He has over 200 peer-reviewed published articles and several patents. Kam’s research interests include turbine heat transfer, cooling systems, gas turbines, internal combustion engine instrumentation, tip timing, tip clearance measurement and high temperature instrumentation.
